Monitor Β· Remote monitoring and management

Every computer you look after. One board. From anywhere.

Monitor is a dashboard in the browser that sees every computer you are responsible for: which are connected and which are not, the load, heat and free space on each, what needs attention - and from there you also act: checks, updates, a restart and fault repair with AI, without driving over and without taking over the screen.

How it works

Three steps, and not one open port

A small agent on the computer reaches out by itself, over HTTPS, to the server. There is nothing to open in a firewall and no connection into the computer - behind a home router, a mobile network or an organisation's network alike.

  1. 1
    Install

The same Personal IT Guy installer, with the "Agent only" choice - it runs in the background with no window - or a full installation with the whole app. Silently too, with one command, Intune or a GPO.

  2. 2
    Sign in and agree

From the icon by the clock: a monitoring username and password, the name the computer will have on the board, and the full list of what is sent - which has to be agreed to before anything leaves the computer.

  3. 3
    Watch and act

Within a minute the computer is on the board. From then on you see it from any browser, get an email when something crosses a line, and send it checks and repairs.

Now, and what has been

Every machine, live and over time

Every machine sends a short report regularly. Open a machine's page and it switches to live reporting - the readings move in front of you.

  • Processor load, memory, free space on every drive and network traffic
  • Processor, graphics and drive temperatures - each drive against its own warning mark
  • Uptime, a restart that is waiting, and the program working hardest right now
  • Graphs over hours, days and weeks - to see whether something slipped or was always like this
  • A few times a day: a hardware and software inventory, Defender and the firewall, programs with a newer version, and the computer doctor's score
Not only watching - acting

39 kinds of action, one press away

Every action is sent from the machine's page, runs there in the background without disturbing whoever is working on it, and comes back as a tidy answer - one you can save as a PDF and attach to a service call. There is no open command line here: only a closed list of known actions.

Network

A speed test, a network check, a scan of the local network, ping and traceroute to an address you pick, ipconfig and the neighbour table, traffic by program, and waking a sleeping machine through an awake one on the same network (Wake-on-LAN).

The computer

The computer doctor, a heat check, drive speed, reliability (crashes and blue screens), technical and graphics details, licensing and pending Windows updates, a system-file check and the event logs.

Processes and services

The running processes, ending or restarting one (system processes are protected), and Windows services - start, stop and the startup type.

Printers

The printers and their queues, a test page, and fixing a stuck printer or the whole print spooler.

Updates

Program updates through winget - all of them or only the ones you choose - and Windows updates, with a restart after them if you want one. The app itself updates from the board too, silently.

Restart and lock

A restart with advance notice to whoever is at the computer, never force-closing a program - and cancelling it. And an entry code for the app, set remotely.

Repair with AI

Describe the fault in words. The AI checks, explains and offers a repair.

"The computer has been slow since the morning", "No internet at reception" - or "look into the last 24 hours". The check runs on the computer itself, the AI reads the results, explains plainly what it found, and offers repairs from a closed list.

  • Two engines: one for the computer, one for the network - layer by layer down to where the connection breaks
  • Nothing changes without a press: each repair runs on its own, and only one that the computer's own check offered
  • Identifying details are removed before anything reaches the AI: the computer's name, the user, the domain, addresses, serial numbers and the Wi-Fi name
  • The board remembers the repairs: a fault that was fixed and has not come back is shown as such, and one that came back is marked
Alerts

Know about a fault before anybody rings to complain

The server compares every report with the lines. When something crosses one, an alert opens in the bell and an email goes out; when things are back to normal it closes by itself. Every line can be changed, and every rule silenced - for email only or altogether.

Critical Machine offline When the machine stops reporting
Warning High processor load High load that lasts
Warning Memory almost full Nearly full across several reports
Critical Low disk space When the free space drops under the line
Critical High temperature Above the heat line
Warning Hot for a long time Near the line for a long time
Warning Restart pending When it has waited a long time
Critical Defender off Off, or its real-time protection is - when no other antivirus is in place
Critical Firewall off On one of its profiles
Critical A drive reports a problem By the drive's own self-check
Warning Low computer doctor score Under 60
Warning Programs with a newer version 5 or more

Email that does not flood

  • The same alert on the same machine is not mailed again within an hour
  • When many machines vanish together - a power cut, a network fault - one email arrives, not ten
  • Each site can have its own address and its own rules
  • And, if you want, an email when the problem is solved
Wall screen

A screen to hang on the wall, read from across the room

A full-screen mode for a television or a display of its own, refreshing by itself. The top line says in one word and one colour whether all is well, and under it only what needs somebody.

  • 10 views: widgets, cards, by network, by site, tables, a network map and a spotlight on one machine
  • Widgets you add, remove and resize: protection, updates, load and heat by machine, free space, speed by site
  • A screen that stopped updating says so about itself - so a green board is never a frozen one
Sites, users and rights

One customer or a hundred - each sees only their own

File the machines under sites - a branch, a customer, a floor - each site in its own colour. Give each customer or employee a user of their own, who sees only their machines and the ones shared with them, and decide what they are allowed to do.

View only

Sees everything: state, readings, graphs and alerts. Runs and changes nothing.

View and checks

Also the checks that only read the machine - speed, network, heat, the computer doctor, processes and printers - and updating the agent to the new version.

Manage

Every action, as the owner has: a restart, program and Windows updates, services, repairs and taking it out of monitoring.

A site status reportEvery machine, what is connected, the alerts and what needs care - as a PDF, Excel or text.
Where the machine isA city and region, no coordinates - and it can be switched off on the computer.
The network mapThe machines by the networks and routers they sit behind.
Privacy and security

Monitoring the computer's state - not the person at it

What is sent

  • Readings: processor, memory, drives, network, heat, uptime
  • A few times a day: hardware, installed programs and versions, protection state
  • How long the computer was not touched - a duration only, never which key, which window or who
  • Answers to actions sent from the board

What is never sent

  • Files and document contents
  • Browsing history and passwords
  • Screenshots - and there is no viewing or taking over the screen either
  • Free-form commands: the board can only run the known actions on its list
Encrypted inside the HTTPS too

Every report is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and signed with HMAC-SHA256 under the computer's own key, with a timestamp against replay.

The key stays on the computer

The computer's key is kept under Windows encryption (DPAPI), and on the server the machines' data is kept encrypted.

The user always knows, and decides

Monitoring starts only after consent. From the icon by the clock you see what is sent, pause the sync or disconnect - at any moment.

A protected sign-in

Limited sign-in attempts, "remember this device", and the list of signed-in devices with sign-out in one press.

The full detail is in the privacy policy, section 4.8, and in the window by the clock on the computer itself. Privacy policy

Questions

What people ask before they start

Do I need to open a port or set up the router?

No. The computer reaches out by itself over ordinary HTTPS, like a browser. Nothing connects into it.

Can I see the user's screen or take it over?

No, on purpose. Monitor looks after the computer - checks, updates, repairs - without seeing what the user is doing.

What happens when a computer is off?

When the computer shuts down, sleeps or the app closes, it says so and the board marks it at once. If it vanishes without a word - a power cut, a pulled cable - it is marked off after two reports that did not arrive, and an alert opens.

Do the people using the computer know it is monitored?

Yes. Whoever connects the computer confirms they are authorised to monitor it and that its users will know. The agent's window shows that the computer is monitored and what is sent, and when the technician runs an action on it a notice appears by the clock.

How long is the data kept?

The detailed reports are kept for a short time, and a summary of them for a limited period - the longer graphs are drawn from it. The full details are in the privacy policy.

Which computers does it run on?

Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit), at home, in the office and on Windows Server too.

Your computers are already waiting on the board

Install the agent, connect from the icon by the clock - and within a minute they are there.
